So, I finally decided to workout. I couldn’t stand the nagging thought of having to write in my blog about not doing it AGAIN – so that was my motivation. I got home, greeted the dogs, said hi to the neighbors, and got my exercise clothes on.
And by exercise clothes, I mean a pair of cropped sweats and a FCUK fancy tee-shirt because they were the only things I could find that are clean. (Only I would work out in French Connection, always the Fatshionista!).)
So after struggling to open the Jillian Michaels DVD, which was a small workout itself, I popped it in the DVD player.
First thing I hated: Jillian Michaels. She’s kind of evil looking, with her super tight bod and pointy arched eyebrows. But I decided to go with it…maybe she had a nice personality!
Second thing I hated: Her two skinny mini workout buddies that she bragged out. “LOOK HOW FIT THEY ARE!” Gee, thanks for pointing it out, Jillian. I mean, aren’t workouts FOR FATTIES? WELL WHERE ARE WE?!
Third thing I hated: The Warm-up…it was a trip straight to dullsville.
She finally starts doing this that are more than stepping and I come to my fourth (and final) thing I hated:
HOW DIFFICULT THE BOXING PART WAS FOR UNCOORDINATED PEOPLE.
OMG, she was saying things like “UPPCUT, CROSS, ELBOW, JAB, AND TWIRL AROUND AND HOP” (okay maybe not quite that).
Immediately, I knew this workout wasn’t for me. I can barely pat my head and rub my stomach.
Defeated I grabbed the remote and turned off the TV. Then my guilt crept up on me. It said:
What are you going to write in your blog? Are you going to say you were tired, AGAIN? What are you going to do all night? Sit? Do you really DESERVE it?
So, I hopped online. First I checked out Netflix for what workouts they had streaming…which were mostly from the early 90s and incredibly lame. So, I went on Amazon to see what I could buy on demand. They had The Biggest Loser Workout, but people said it had a lot of jumping around, and really, I’m not that type of girl.
THEN, I saw this CHEESETASTIC workout:
And I laughed. I mean seriously, walking in place in your living room? Could I possibly be anymore pathetic? But it had FANTASTIC reviews – better than ALL of the other videos I looked at. So, guess what? I bought it. AND I DID IT!
And I think I liked it. It kept my heart rate up pretty well, I had some sweat, and by the end I was pretty tired. I think I’ll keep this workout video for a few weeks, and then move onto the 3 Mile Week and up and up! Now that I have the hang of it, I could totally mute it and listen to music instead.
Anyone else try something new today?
