I was out the other day with a friend wandering around stores, TJ Maxx and Target mostly. ANd I was pumped to look at some clothing. Until I actually tried to find something I liked. And I looked at my friend, exclaiming,

I DON’T KNOW WHAT I LIKE!

It’s been so long since I’ve had any sort of shopping experience (read: binge) that I was looking at things I felt I *should* like. Things that were stereotypically-Sarah. Black dresses, floral dresses, skirts…but none of it really clicked with me. My fashion identity has been a bit lost.

These are the things I gravitate toward:

Fitted tee-shirts
Skinny jeans
Various styles of boots whether high or low
Scarves
Funky glasses
Vintage-y sweatshirts without hoods

Does this even make a fashion blogger? I look at my closet filled with dresses, vintage suits, and I don’t want to wear any of it. I am so tired of dresses…I feel like a traitor even typing that. I think I’m channeling a bit of hipster/90s grunge. Maybe it’s the fall weather, but my favorite thing to wear is my vintage men’s black acid wash denim jacket. I can’t get enough of it. If I was going to come up with an outfit that I’d love right now, it would resemble this:

I hate dresses by tabayag featuring lace up boots

After just making that collage, I really want that entire outfit. RIGHT NOW. I guess I’m leaving my girly phase and moving into…this.

What is this style? Thoughts? Opinions? Concerns?

I love these picks! For some reason when it gets colder I always gravitate towards darker, harder items. I think you hit it right by saying it has some grunge and hipster qualities. I especially love the striped top with the patterned scarf.

I stopped fashion blogging for precisely that reason– not that I’m saying you should, just that I know where you are coming from. I feel more at home, more myself in a pair of skinny jeans with either a super loose tee or a v-neck tee and either flats or Chucks. My only accessories usually are my glasses (purple Burberry with pyramid studs on the side) and my makeup is always just foundation, filled in brows, and black liquid eyeliner. The style you are shifting into just reads as tough to me, which is, I suppose, a mix of grunge and hipster. I find that a bit amusing because all of the accessories I bought for this fall were pyramid studded or chain, lots of black and metallic… in another word, tough.

I don’t think there is anything wrong with your style shifting and I think you should embrace it and if you want to, blog it! You certainly aren’t the only fat chick that no longer wants to wear skirts and dresses.

i think the best part about fashion blogging is that style is ever evolving. i’m not so much for the dresses at the moment. i spent so long avoiding the crap out of skinny jeans that now i’m desperate to get my hands on as many as i can. in my opinion… post away! i want to see your outfits, even if they are jeans & boots!

I think everyone goes through stages, everyones fashion evolves and changes. I love the items you posted above, and yes, it does still make you a fashion blogger.
